MARGIN RELEASE: THE OBERLIN NEW MEDIA LECTURES
Announces
MICHAEL TRIGILIO of NEIGBORHOOD PUBLIC RADIO
1) FMemory, Sunday, February 24 @ 2PM in the art building—Bring your portable radio!
For this event, students in Julia Christensen’s Transmission Arts class have built analog FM transmitters with their own two hands. Meanwhile, students in the Transmission class, as well as the Margin Release class, have made audio recordings of themselves reading and interpreting their memories, memories from a range of times and subjects. At 2PM on February 24, our transmitters will be installed around the art building, each transmitting tracks of students’ memories, sending our memories out on 12 different radio frequencies using our homemade technology. Guests may wander around the building with portable radios, tuning around to find the memories that are floating through the air. Over 30 students are involved in the making of this event. The FMemory event is the premiere of the project that Neighborhood Public Radio will be presenting at the Whitney Biennial 2008 in March. Come one come all, and bring a radio!
2) Public talk by Michael Trigilio of Neighborhood Public Radio, February 25, Noon, at The Cat
(and an 11AM interview on Logan Takahashi’s Space Jamz show, 91.5 WOBC!)
